How do you provide quality support to an experienced engineering team already elbow deep in their project?
Building on the success of their first-generation, all-in-one connected car device, Raven approached Tungsten looking for help bringing a second-generation product to market. With its own talented internal engineering team and a great industrial design establishing the look and feel of the product, Raven was already well underway with its development. The crew just needed a bit of support getting their injection molded parts ready for mass production.
Working as an extension of Raven’s internal team, our mechanical designers quickly evaluated the project for manufacturability and assembly. While maintaining the external features of the industrial design concept, we rebuilt the enclosure and dash mount following design-for-injection-moulding best practices. We were also able to simplify the overall assembly, and we conducted several rounds of finite element analysis to validate the performance of critical features, including snap-fits and cantilever action buttons.
Working closely with Raven and their manufacturing partner, Tungsten was able to successfully resolve all the issues hampering production. Along the way, we also helped Raven with its new product introduction process by making prototypes for tradeshows, customer demos, and certification testing.
